Our Changing World

Our Stewardship

Right now, the world around us is going through very significant changes, changes that will greatly impact the way we work, live, play, and interact for generations to come. Many of these changes are being driven by our own actions as members of the human race. And as the dominant beings on the only world which we can call our own, we have an inherent responsibility to not only understand those changes, but ensure that our impacts on the world on which we depend are beneficial, or at worst benign, to the generations that follow, both for our own livelihood and the living world that surrounds us. Reaching a foundational understanding of these causes and effects can be exceedingly difficult, especially based on the endless stream of seemingly contradictory information that is obtained through an infinite supply of media outlets. Too easily science is obfuscated by politics, bias, and individual agendas. This blog is an attempt to present a clearer perspective on the influences we have had in the past, continue to have in the present, and will invariably have in the future.

While the focus here will be on climate change, there will be the occasional foray into other subject matters related to mankind’s interaction with and impact on the natural world. This is intended to be a starting point only, and links to further information will be provided throughout to enable you, the reader, to explore beyond the basic intents of this site.

Let me also state for the record right now that I am not a scientist, though my educational background is scientific in nature. I’ve just too often found that the available information on these subjects falls into one of two camps: media stories that do not provide the whole picture and scientific studies that provide too detailed a picture for the layman to understand. I try to present the middle ground to the best of my ability. I’ll undoubtedly get some things wrong, but, hopefully, those instances will be the exception.
